Clean up those page names!

Ok...wow, we've got some customers with some page names that are doozies! Here's a great example: http://www.TheirDomain?=IMG23754%20sdfasdfawer%20f.php

Who on earth can make sense of that? Well not to worry, VisiStat can help.

If you find yourself in this category, get in line. But no worries, because we've got three solutions for you. One that's easy, two that are kinda techie, but they are all extremely helpful.

Easy one first...In your page popularity report you'll see a pencil icon in front of each page name. Do not be alarmed, click on it. It will give you the option to rename the page in a more natural, user-friendly format. Can't remember which page it is? Not to worry either, it's an active link--so click on it and the page will load for you. If your site is not too many pages deep this is a good way to go.

Now for the simple techie explanation. If your webmaster had to install your VisiStat tracking code, stop reading here, turn and run... if you did it, then read on... In your account options section, we have instructions for CUSTOM PAGE NAMES VIA SNIPPET. This is a way for you to name your page at the snippet level. Simply stated: To apply custom name pages, simply add this line to your snippet, after your DID: var MyPageName='Your Page Name Here'; Piece of cake.

And the advanced-ultra techie explanation... If you have a site that's many, many pages deep, you may want to dynamically echo in the page name at the snippet level. Wow, sounds hard, but if you're an IT guy, you should be able to do it with your eyes closed.

Following any of the steps above will result in a much friendlier Page Popularity report thereby making your VisiStat reports much easier to read!

Sheesh, what will we think of next?!
